This paper describes the technologies used in ceramic metal halide lamps which are alumina ceramic tube, sealing technology and the doses in the tube. Ceramic metal halide lamps have main three features as a light source which are high efficacy, high color rendering index and long life, and they are expected to expand in the markets.View full abstractDownload PDF (381K) -

Arc tube shaps and manufacturing conditions are investigated. As a result of the study, high efficacy, high color rendering, long life, safe and environmental protection lamps are achieved. Then, we developed this new lamps 150〜360W which were improved with the lamp life and efficiency by reconsidering the basic design of the former lamps recently. The new lamps consist of horizontal types and vertical types in and two color temperatures of 4000K and 3000K. Translucent alumina is applied to ceramic metal halide lamps with benefits of better corrosion resistance and higher operation temperatures compared to quartz glass. The alumina tubes have been manufactured in co-firing with three or five ceramic parts. Newly developed slurry and precious forming technologies give the "One-body" seamless tubes, which improve thickness uniformity and lighting performance.
